Imagine Your Second Adulthood…
Does your life seem at a turning point, but you don't know
which way to turn?
Are you nearing retirement and unsure how to reshape your life?
Do you yearn to start a business? Go back to school? Write a book? Volunteer? Keep in shape?
Is there a youthful dream that keeps coming back to you?

These are some of the dilemmas people face as they move into their Second Adulthood-- midlife and beyond. In her book, New Passages, Gail Sheehy describes this new frontier of adult development. Because we are healthier, we are living decades after age 50 -- more than any previous generation. That gives us the opportunity for a second adulthood.

We know more about adult development than ever before. The old idea that we are fully developed by age 21 is not only outdated but, like the word "retirement," being redefined. If our 20s were about our physical peak, and our 30s and 40s about work and productivity, after that it is about being and becoming you. In our Second Adulthood we seek more meaning and purpose in our lives.

Making the transition into this new territory can be challenging, but you are not alone. There are predictable questions that people from about age 45 and beyond begin to ask. If you'd like to explore them further please contact me. As a seasoned midlifer, my passion as a coach is to help you create a fulfilling Second Adulthood.

How will you live the second half of your life?
Do you want to:

1. Reclaim Your Life?
Suddenly, you realize you've not been living your life, but the shoulds and expectations of others. You're thinking, "It's time for me."

2. Revitalize Your Health?
You're more aware of growing older, perhaps have a sense you're slowing down, even creaky at times. You want to get in good physical shape and follow a healthy diet.

3. Reflect on Your Life?
"Is this all there is?" You know there is more but you want to make sure your next steps have meaning. You want to focus on what matters most to you. You want to feed your soul. And leave a meaningful legacy.

4. Rethink Your Work/Career?
Work feels stale; maybe you're even burned out. It may have been a great career, but you need change.

5. Re-invent Yourself?
"I started out to be…" and somewhere along life's path, you took a different turn. You want to act on that youthful dream. Or maybe a more recent dream has captured your imagination. Either way, if feels like "it's now or never."

6. Renew your Relationships?
The kids are launched and you'd like to get to know your life partner in a new way. Or perhaps you'd like to begin a relationship. You'd like to spend time with your kids, or grandkids (if they've arrived). Your lifelong friends are treasures, but you'd also like to reach out to new friendships.

7. Redirect Your Energy?
You want to balance your time, read and finish a book (or write one), or make time for sports, hobbies and other interests.

8. Rearrange Your Life?
You feel a sense of clutter, too much "stuff" has accumulated. You want to simplify your life and start fresh. Keep first things first.

9. Redefine Retirement?
"Retirement," at least in the sense of "get the gold watch and kick back and relax," is not you. Well, you want to relax some, but you're healthy and have years ahead. It's more like you want to revolutionize the whole concept of retirement so that it fits your vision of your future self.
